STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROJECT
SAI WAN, HONG KONG, 2020
Neighbourhood Mapping & Storytelling in Sai Wan
A group of 12 students from across Hong Kong took part in 2-week programme to explore the city through their own lens. They explored historic layers in a typical old neighbourhood, zooming in to street level, the interns set out to explore and identify what makes this city unique; a deep-dive deep into local culture and living heritage working in two complimentary streams: creative storytelling and neighbourhood mapping.
The students got hands-on experience in street surveys, interview and social listening techniques and learned about visual and editorial content editing under the mentorship of the iDiscover team and our community partners. The programme also included daily morning briefing & reflection sessions and ended with a presentation to local policymakers, academics, architects and developers.
