Agenda

Documenting local culture & living heritage in Chiang Mai Old City

No other area in Hong Kong has so successfully and radically reinvented itself as Causeway Bay, the city’s prime retail and leisure destination. Yet, few people still know the stories of the once famous theatres, cinemas, department stores and amusement parks that made the district such a hotspot in the old days.

Some 100 years ago, Lee Hysan developed the Lee Garden Amusement Park, sowing deep roots in Causeway Bay and putting the area on the path to becoming one of the world’s busiest retail and commercial hubs. We want to treasure that legacy.

- Mark Tung, Executive Director Lee Gardens Association

The Lee Gardens Association wanted a campaign to bring back memories of past places, show the district’s unique history and move traffic away from mainstream shopping and entertainment areas. We developed a self-guided heritage trail comprising an illustrated map linked to a digital wayfinding app with historical photos and anecdotes of 25 selected points of interest in the district.
